Birds

Where I work we have an aviary with some pretty special birds. I am the caretaker of them and I enjoy it so much. We recently got a yellow canary and it sings so beautifully everyday. We had a contest on naming it and her name is now Melody. Then the other day I was walking by and I spotted this couple on the swing together. It was so adorable I couldn't resist taking a picture. They were taking a nap and enjoying each other.

Memorial Weekend!

I look forward to Memorial weekend because with the extra day off my husband and I can catch up on some outdoor chores. We no longer have an above ground pool in our backyard so we are trying to fill the area with some rock and we would like to put a fire pit there and get some comfortable chairs to sit around it and enjoy on a cooler night. That is our plan for this day. Monday will be another story. My husband has been putting up ship lap in our garage and it is looking so nice. I believe that is his project for Monday. I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend!

Florida

Last Friday we returned from our vacation to Florida. Twice a year we take a trip there and try to be gone for 2 weeks. Our sons flew down there and spent one of the weeks with us this time. We had such a great time! We went to Kennedy Space Center, went to Downtown Disney and Universal Walkway. We had some time on the beach and went to a very large Flea Market. It was awesome! My favorite part was the beach time. It's so lovely there and towards the end of our vacation the weather was getting warmer and more sunny. It was fantastic!

Andy Stanley

Your Move with Andy Stanley is one of our favorite preachers on television. When we haven't been able to make it to church on Sunday because of weather or illness we will watch his program. He's comical and speaks to us on a level that helps us with everyday living. He uses scripture to back up what he says. He's awesome and loves the Lord!

Winter Jam

Tomorrow night I am heading to Des Moines to go to Winter Jam!! My youngest son is going with me. We are going to have a great time! There are going to be so many great Christian artists there. I am so excited. They are going to rock the house and Jesse and I will be shaking our booties. ;)

Robins

When it's spring in Iowa one of the first things everyone looks for are the robins. I had been hearing that there were robins around but I never saw any. My husband said when I was gone for the weekend last week that our back yard was full of them. I was disappointed to miss that. But then at work the other day one of my coworkers saw one in the courtyard and do you think I could see it? Finally she pointed him out and I saw my first robin. I was pretty excited. What a great sign of spring. We are all so tired of winter here. It has been so bitterly cold this year. That is not normal. Spring is definitly showing signs. We are so happy for that.

Strat Pickups

I am not a musically inclined person. Don't get me wrong, I love music and enjoy listening to it often but I do not play an instrument of any sort. When I hear of different music parts that I have never heard of I find it interesting to see what these things do. For example strat pickups, these items can be installed on Strat-style guitar and they help create authentic tones while lowering the noise content. That's interesting to me because I don't know much about this stuff and anything to do with guitars are pretty cool.
