Christmas time can be kind of hard sometimes. Trying to think of the perfect gift for friends and loved ones. I have 3 men in my family and they all seem to enjoy gadget type gifts. Snow

Wow! it is really snowing outside. They were saying we could get 1-3 inches but if it keeps going like it is right now it will be more. It's pretty but I can live without it that's for sure. Journey to the Center of the Earth

We bought the dvd Journey to the Center of the Earth and with it came 4 pair of glasses so that we could watch the movie in 3D. We had seen the movie in the theater without 3D and really liked it but we found that it was pretty cool seeing the 3D affects. Sometimes it got to our eyes because they seemed blurry but over all it was fun to watch.

Our Thanksgiving

Our sons got home late last night to spend the weekend with us. We are planning to have our Thanksgiving together tomorrow. So as soon as I can get myself off this computer I need to go make some pies for our day. Our youngest son loves chocolate pie and our oldest loves any kind of pie so I will make the traditional pumpkin. I better get done here and get to work.

Dancing with the Stars

Dancing with the Stars was so good on Monday night. It's hard to believe that tonight is the finale. I'm sad because I love this show and look forward to watching it every week. I have a feeling that Brook and Derek will win it and they do deserve it but I also feel Lance has really improved and I think sometimes the judges are still too hard on him and Warren too. They all are so much fun to watch. I can't wait to see what happens tonight. It is going to be great!

Funeral

The funeral for that young family member is going to be held on tomorrow. My husband left today to go there. It is about a 5 hour drive and he will be there to represent our family. It is so sad that this young successful man lost his life at the age of 26. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

Weekend Plans

Christmas Decorations

It seems hard to believe that in about a week I will be putting my fall decorations away and putting out my Christmas stuff. Colds and Flu

Wow, there has been so much illness around us lately. A couple of gals that I work with ended up with the flu and were sick for more then just one or two days. Then our son has been battling being sick for over a week now. My husband woke up yesterday and said he felt the crud coming on. He ended up staying home from work today so I do know he is sick. He normally will not miss work. I'm still healthy and plan to stay that way.

We have Sirius radio on our dish and I listen to it almost daily. My favorite is the contemporary Christian music but lately, like today, I put on the 70's station because I do love the music from back then. I was in high school back in the 70's and the music often brings back fun memories. I really enjoy music and love the fact that we have this to enjoy.

So are you a Survivor fan? We watch it every week and sometimes it seems repetitious but they have done better this season. My husband and I have watched every Survivor from the beginning. It is starting to wind down and they are starting to add to the jury. Before long now it will be over once again.

Wow, the last couple of days the winds around here have been strong and very cold. I know of people who haven't been going out because it's so chilly. I guess I don't remember it being this cold this early in November. They say it is going to be down into the single digits. Yikes! that's cold.

We watch a lot of movies that are on Lifetime and the Lifetime Movie Network. They really have a lot of good movies on there. I really don't care for the ones that have spousal abuse on them, I don't care for the violence. But for the most part they are interesting to watch.

Fish

A few years back our oldest son brought home a couple of fish that a friend had given him. So we decided to go out and buy a small aquarium for these fish and we bought a couple more fish. They were doing great for quite awhile and were even accumulating. Then all the sudden one by one they started to die. Well, that was a bummer so we cleaned out the tank and put it away for awhile. Then I decided I wanted more fish. I bought a few and we started all over again. They barely lasted a month and they were all dead. I felt so bad that I just cleaned the tank and it's sitting in our basement now. I think having fish for pets is not in the picture anymore.

Funeral

Yesterday, my husband, John and I attended a funeral for a lady who was 51 years old and battled cancer for the past 3 years. She was an amazing woman that never had that poor me mentality. She is now at rest in Jesus' arms and no more pain. She was so well loved and respected and the church where the funeral was held was packed full. Then the dinner afterwards was held at our nearby Christian camp in a building that has a big gym in it. I have never seen so many people turn out for a funeral in my lifetime. It just shows the type of person Beth was.

Deer

We have several friends that love to go deer hunting. I work with one of those friends and he has gotten all he can for the season with a bow and arrow. He not only got a deer, he got a male and a female and he also got a wild turkey. He is quite the hunter. And when it's time hunt with a shotgun he most likely won't be able to hunt deer because he has already gotten two.

Dancing with the Stars is winding down. Tonight they vote off another couple and then they are down to 4. I think I am leaning toward Derek and Brook and Warren and Kim. I mostly enjoy watching them. I think most of us know what causes stress in our lives. Jobs, busy schedules within the family, health issues, it can be a variety of issues. But do we know how it can affect our health and bodies? Trip to Sioux City

Sunnyview is a retirement residence where my husband and I work. This past summer they added a new entry way on the building and a drive through area where residents can be dropped off right at the door. It is looking great and a couple of men had to be hired to put some brick on the lower part of the addition. So, my husband and I took a trip to Sioux City to pick up the brick and cement. We took the Sunnyview truck and a big trailer and headed over there to get the stuff. It's about a two hour trip and that was the most up and down trip in that truck that I have ever been on. Because the trailer was empty it really made the truck bounce. The trip home was much better, thank goodness and we got everything to Sunnyview safe and sound.

Campfire

The other night it was so nice outside and my husband and I decided to relax by our fire pit. The winds were calm and the temperature was just right. The sky was full of stars and it was just about perfect. We enjoyed watching the flames in the fire pit and we were adding some old dried up weeds to our fire. That caused it to shoot flames really high and it really crackled. It was fun and we had an enjoyable evening.

Election Day

Well today is the big election day and the lines for voting have been very long. It is great to see so many people out to vote as it should be. My husband and I went and voted before I went to work and we live in a small town. The line there was not too long but was a steady stream of people. It was really great to see. I hope you all got out there and voted too.
