When visiting a physician and finding out that you may have to be on a new medication, wouldn't it be great to know that your physician can have free medical applications for iphone and be able to access it whenever need be? The physician can immediately use his iphone or blackberry or whatever mobile device to check for potentially harmful interactions between the two drugs before writing the prescription without even leaving the exam room.
Epocrates can be credited for making pocket-size devices a staple in physicians’ lab coats. This company offers free medical Pocket PC software, medical Palm software, and medical Windows Mobile software. Epocrates also recently launched a free drug reference for BlackBerry devices. This helps our physicians have access to online drug references which can be accessed from any Internet-connected desktop. As a patient I would feel more secure in knowing that my physician has this access to information to make sure I am safe when using prescription drugs.
